The Ark of Covenant is without doubt the most holy object made in the ancient time. At the matter of fact it is not only an object. It is something much more important: it is like a Visit Card of God in the sense that if it were found we will have a physical proof of the Covenant of God and the Elected People.
Connected to the Ark there are several mysteries and not solved problems.
First of all: who was Moses? Was he a Jewish saved in the same way another legend mention the saving of Sargon of Akkad, or he was an Egyptian, had was he connected somehow to the Egyptian monotheism of Akenaten? Why he wanted to escape from the Egypt? In that country there were no slaves, so how do we have to read the Exodus. Anyway it is not possible to explain only form a logical point of view how he could transform a people of nomadic shepherds in the only people that survived from his time up till now. Further more considering that this people survives even being the more oppressed among all the peoples in the world.
Secondly did the Ark really exist? Do we have a proof that it was a physical object and not a symbol?
Doctor Leen Ritmeyer who whose Architect Archaeologist in charge of the digging on the Temple Mountain discovered the Holy of Holiest and inside that a hand made basin of the size of the Ark. But what was inside the Ark? The law of God or perhaps some documents that Moses kept with him coming away from Egypt? We have only notion of the tables do the law. What is important is that Doctor Ritmeyer measured the size of the Holy of Holiest: ten cubits. So deducting the size of the Ark only four men by side could carry the Ark. By consequence, it could not weight more that 400 Kg. So it was laminated of gold not of pure gold even more it could not carry any strange power generator !!!!
It is reliable that it had some extraordinary power? Isn’t more reliable to think about a taboo like the one of several other religions? Also now some religion have taboo that not respected cause death to the ones who did not respected it. It happens because they become so afraid to have violated the law of God that have a heart attach. Or other option, is it possible that Moses had some important papyrus taken from Egypt and he hidden it into the Ark. Anyway there is no proof of that.
When the Ark disappeared?
The last proof of its existence is in the Bible when king Josia says: "but back the Holy Ark in the temple" it is on 622 BC. Few years after on 586 Babylonians will keep Jerusalem and destroy it. What did happen to the Ark? In the list of objects returned to the Jewish the Ark is not mentioned. Just a few people believe the Ark was destroyed. Many people looked for it. What now is possible to proof is that it is not in Axum. Even if the ancient legend of the son of Solomon and the queen of Seba is fascinating, but somebody entered into the church of Axum and made photos. Those pictures are images of a case with two very little winged beings at the corners of the same short side. So that object cannot be the Ark of Covenant and it is easy to explain. The Bible says the wings of the cherubs had to protect the ark. In the ancient Egypt it was common to represent figures protecting the surface bellow with their wings, but the surface had to be all covered by the wings. It would only happen if the two statues were one in front of the other in the two opposite sides.
In addition in the ancient time symmetry was extremely important. In the ark of Axum the wings of the two cherubs do not bound any surface, so they can not protect anything. Also the symmetry is missing. The legend of Menelik and the queen of Saba is very antique, but it as been emphasised after the "original" Ethiopian dynasty touched again the power after dispossessed the Zagwe dynasty. It is curious the fact that Kabra Nagast (the Glory of the Kings) the poem in which the legend is described, was written in that period. In the past century Menelik the emperor considered the original manuscript a very strong support to his power. It clearly means that the legend was tailored to support the power of the Ethiopian emperors and clergy.
Also the presence of the templars cross in Axum means nothing. Just to make an hypothesis do not forget an important fact. In the fifteenth century the Portuguese sailors come to Ethiopia and stayed also in Axum. They belonged to the order knights of Christ, who were a sort of Portuguese templars.They used the same type of cross.
In this case where is it? Somewere in Jerusalem? On mount Nebo? It is impossible to say and also if fuound it will always difficult to proove it is the real Ark of Covenant.
